Building a Sustainable Home for Studio Somatics

Studio Somatics was founded in 2022 as a mission-driven social enterprise rooted in the belief that storytelling, education, creativity, and embodied practice can help individuals and communities cultivate resilience, belonging, and collective agency.

Since our founding, we have designed and facilitated workshops, cultural programs, storytelling initiatives, and community-centered learning experiences that support healing, connection, and personal transformation. Our work brings together artists, educators, facilitators, organizers, and community members to explore the intersections of identity, culture, well-being, and social change.

As our impact and vision continue to grow, Studio Somatics is currently transitioning from a limited liability company (LLC) to a non-profit organization.

Why We Are Pursuing Non-profit Status
The challenges facing our communities today—social isolation, burnout, displacement, cultural erasure, and inequitable access to wellness resources—require solutions that are community-centered, accessible, and sustainable.

Through our work, we have witnessed a growing demand for spaces where people can gather to learn, heal, create, and connect. We believe that expanding access to these opportunities should not be limited by financial barriers.

Pursuing nonprofit status will allow Studio Somatics to:

  • Increase access to free and low-cost community programming

  • Expand scholarship opportunities for workshop participants

  • Support artists, facilitators, and educators through equitable compensation

  • Develop long-term partnerships with foundations and community organizations

  • Preserve and amplify underrepresented stories and cultural knowledge

  • Build organizational infrastructure that ensures sustainable impact for years to come

This transition reflects our commitment to serving the public good and investing in the long-term well-being of the communities we support.

Current Organizational Status

Studio Somatics is currently completing its transition from a California limited liability company (LLC) to a nonprofit organization. We anticipate completing nonprofit incorporation by late June 2026 and are actively establishing the governance, operational systems, and strategic partnerships necessary to support long-term community impact.

Following incorporation, Studio Somatics will continue pursuing federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt recognition, enabling us to expand access to philanthropic funding, charitable contributions, and community-centered programming. During this period, we are also exploring fiscal sponsorship opportunities to support grant-funded initiatives and ensure responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources.

As part of this transition, we are:

  • Establishing a founding board of directors

  • Developing organizational policies and governance structures

  • Strengthening evaluation and impact measurement systems

  • Building partnerships with community organizations, educators, artists, and philanthropic institutions

  • Creating sustainable operational infrastructure to support future growth and impact

Fiscal Sponsorship & Philanthropic Partnerships

As we move through the non-profit formation process, Studio Somatics welcomes conversations with fiscal sponsors, foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors interested in supporting our mission.

Fiscal sponsorship can provide an important bridge for emerging nonprofit organizations, allowing charitable contributions and grant funding to directly support community programming while federal tax-exempt recognition is being finalized. We are actively exploring partnerships that align with our values of accessibility, creativity, equity, and collective care.

Through these partnerships, we seek to expand opportunities for storytelling, healing-centered education, cultural preservation, and community resilience throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Our Commitment to Transparency

We believe trust is built through accountability, transparency, and meaningful relationships.

As Studio Somatics evolves into a non-profit organization, we are committed to openly sharing information about our governance, organizational development, funding priorities, partnerships, and community impact. We view transparency as an essential component of ethical stewardship and responsible leadership.

As our organization grows, we will continue to publish updates on our progress, share program outcomes, and communicate how resources are invested to advance our mission.

Looking Ahead

By summer 2026, Studio Somatics expects to operate as a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing collective healing, cultural resilience, and creative empowerment through storytelling, education, and community-centered practice.

Our long-term vision is to cultivate accessible spaces where individuals and communities can reconnect with themselves, one another, and their capacity to imagine and create more just, compassionate, and resilient futures.

Through trauma-informed workshops, cultural programming, storytelling initiatives, organizational capacity-building, and creative facilitation, we aim to strengthen the social fabric that allows communities to thrive.

We are deeply grateful to the collaborators, facilitators, advisors, participants, and supporters who have helped shape this journey, and we look forward to building the next chapter together.
